Abdominoplasty is the preferred method for patients with post-pregnancy abdominal protrusion and excess fat in the lower abdomen with minimal or mild skin laxity. Liposuction alone cannot flatten the abdomen since the muscles much also be tightened. The muscles are tightened through a lower abdominal incision while liposuction is performed on the excess fat and excess skin is then excised.

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men and women who are in relatively good shape, but are bothered by large fat deposits, protruding lower abdomen, or loose abdominal skin that will not respond to diet and exercise. An abdominoplasty produces excellent results. In most cases, the results are long lasting if you follow a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and maintain your weight.
